About

The District, established May 6, 1965 became official on June 9th with the first meeting and election of five officers to serve as Board members for the Beech Island Water District. The District began with 13 miles of water line to serve 251 families, one well and 200,000 gal. storage tank located at the now “OLD” office building.

Moving to the here and now; the District now has an extensive structure providing water service to a much larger service area. This is a gravity based system supplied by 6 wells located throughout the service area as well as 5 storage tanks. All of the wells draw from the Tuscaloosa Aquifer, approximately 500 feet below ground level.

After 40 years of service at the 480 Beech Island Avenue address, the new District office and maintenance buildings were constructed and occupied in late summer of 2008. Located at 630 Beech Island Avenue the office facility has a customer lobby, drive up window and night depository.
